Joel Ewanick, the new top marketer at General Motors, has recently shifted creative duties on the $600 million Chevy account to Goodby, Silverstein and Partners, though negotiations are still ongoing; no contracts have been signed as of yet.
In less than one week on the job, Joel has single handedly stricken fear for everyone on GM’s ad agency roster, but honestly, when you give someone almost complete autonomy when it comes to your advertising, what do you expect? The automobile transport industry is looking forward to this, because it could mean that many GM transporters might be back in the fold afer all the problems that General Motors has been having.
Ewanick is surrounding himself with people he feels the most comfortable with and those that he trusts, which is completely understandable, right? I mean, when Ewanick ran the marketing for Hyundai and Porsche, he worked with Gooby, and now he’s working with them again. Did no one see this coming at GM?
