Dealer auto transport networks don’t just ship new cars – many handle used cars that are sold on car lots, and they’ve been talking about the huge decrease in the amount of Toyota used cars that have been sold since Toyota found itself in trouble over their recalls. Sales of used cars are down 1.8% from last year, with prices down 1.3% since January 2010. This affects all of Toyota’s vehicles, not just the models that are affected by the recent recalls. Independent dealers still don’t have recall information or the parts to replace the affected vehicles either, which is definitely hurting the numbers that Toyota is seeing slip … [Read more...]
Ford, Toyota, GM See Sales Grow in China
According to the Detroit News, GM’s sales in China have risen 51% from last year’s numbers, while Ford and Toyota also reported sales gains in the double digits. This comes in the face of decreasing momentum and sales in the United States and elsewhere, with GM selling over 174,000 in February in China, which was a company record for February sales; however, it was still below January’s record-setting number of over 219,000 vehicles sold. Nationwide auto shippers in China have also seen an increase in American cars being shipped across the country, though the numbers could be a reflection of even lower numbers to come. Ford sold over … [Read more...]

Toyota Market Share Drops in Wake of Recall
Edmunds.com has adjusted their automotive sales forecast for 2010, mainly because of Toyota’s huge recall problems. In other words, they’re going back on what they said before because Toyota is currently tanking faster than the Exxon-Valdez in 1989. They are also adjusting the true market value prices for the affected Toyota models, and Ford is forecasted to overtake Toyota as the second largest automobile maker in the United States market. The auto transport industry saw this coming, that’s for sure. Edmunds.com is not reporting anything that no one else saw, but their numbers are something that other people didn’t see. New … [Read more...]
US Department of Transportation Demanding Toyota Documents
In a not-so-stunning turn of events, the United States Department of Transportation is demanding all documents pursuant to Toyota’s massive recalls over the past year to see if the automaker acted quickly enough in the wake of the recalls. Toyota has already stopped work temporarily at their plants in Texas and Kentucky, and the bad news is only getting worse. Toyota is now experiencing something that they have yet to deal with – a backorder of unsold vehicles, though not as large as stockpiles could get if Toyota doesn’t get this handled. The documents, among other things, will tell the DOT when and how the company learned of the … [Read more...]

Toyota Launching New Hybrid
Toyota is expanding its hybrid franchise by developing the first hybrid-only model, after increased sales in the Toyota Prius and their other hybrid models. It is planned to be smaller and more affordable than the mid-sized Prius and the concept will debut January 11th at the North American International Auto Show. However, unlike some other companies and their concept cars, Toyota is already planning on starting production in Japan in late 2011, with the car slated to be introduced in the United States in early 2012. The Toyota Prius is currently Toyota’s best-selling hybrid model, and it has more demand than all their other hybrid lines … [Read more...]
