2010: The Fleet Of Fuel Efficient Vehicles
Posted by admin in Auto Industry News, tags: auto transport, auto transportation, automobile, automobile transport, automobile transportation, fuel efficiency, fuel efficientOver the course of the past few decades, our countries main industries have certainly undergone some major evolutionary changes. Perhaps one of the most notable industries changing can be seen when examining the automotive industry. It would appear as though the demand for bigger, flashier vehicles is being increasingly replaced by the demand for smaller, more fuel efficient vehicles. This can be attributed in part to the rising fear of global warming, and the need for emission regulations. When the economy took a dive, one of the industries that was hit exceptionally hard was the automotive industry. In an attempt to stimulate the industry, the government implemented a program known commonly as “cash-for-clunkers.”
This program aimed to provide an incentive for those individuals who owned older, gas guzzling vehicles to come out and invest in more fuel efficient options. The program promised up to $4500 in rebate funds for those who qualified and successfully traded in their older vehicles. Not only did this policy help to stimulate an increasingly struggling automotive industry, it also removed hundreds of thousands of vehicles which were heavily polluting the environment on a daily basis, and replaced them with smaller, more fuel efficient options. It would seem the government has managed to kill two birds with one stone!
With the evolving auto industry increasing over-all production of electric and hybrid models, a new wave of technology is on the horizon. Smaller concept cars such as Pininfarina’s Nido model have already begun to revolutionize real-life impact safety features, helping to make smaller vehicles safer in regards to an accident with a much larger vehicle. These changes will also effect a variety of branches within the industry, from manufacturing, sales, and even automobile transport. While many aspects of these vehicles are indeed evolving and changing, many of the components will remain compatible. Some examples of this include iPods, interlock ignition devices (Breathalyzer issued by a judge to be used before driving), stereos, and other such appliances.
So now that we’ve established there is indeed a revolutionary movement as fas as producing more fuel efficient vehicles, lets take a look at the most fuel efficient vehicles of 2010. Ranked in order of the highest fuel efficiency,
Toyota Prius (hybrid) 51/48
Ford Fusion Hybrid FWD, Mercury Milan Hybrid FWD 41/36
Honda Civic Hybrid 40/45
Honda Insight (hybrid) 40/43
Lexus HS250h (hybrid) 35/34

Smart fortwo Cabriolet (automatic), Smart fortwo Coupe (automatic) 33/41

You’ll notice there is only one option without the Hybrid term attached to it. That’s the Daimler Smart ForTwo. This tiny vessel fits two and is ideal for urban driving conditions. Another incredible listing there is the found in the second ranked Ford Fusion! Even on the brink of bankruptcy, Ford has managed to make an incredible rebound! However, what would this list mean if there wasn’t a counter list provided? Below is a list of those models which are not as eco-friendly.
Lamborghini Murcielago (manual) 8/13
Bugatti Veyron 8/14
Lamborghini Murcielago (automatic) 9/14
Bentley Azure Bentley Brooklands 9/15

Bentley Continental Flying Spur Bentley Continental GTC 10/17
Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano 11/15
Too many to name
As you can see, the higher end sports car companies are ranking in 1 – 10. Coming in at number 10 are a plethora of other high end gas guzzling sporty options. These vehicles will end up costing you a fortune in the future! Between maintenance costs as well as the amount of money spent on fuel, surely the top list would be a better choice. Maybe not for looks or pizazz, but certainly for the environment as well as your wallet!
